Mr. Neil Priyath John currently serves as the Director – Laboratory Services of Asiri Health. He commenced his initial professional studies in diagnostics from College of Chemical Sciences – Institute of Chemistry of Ceylon in 1983, whilst being employed at Glass House Diagnostic Laboratory. Mr. John joined Asiri Hospital Holdings PLC in 1984 as the Senior Laboratory Technologist. He gradually moved up the hierarchy to be the Director in 2006. Mr. John has been the Director – Laboratory cum Supervisor for the national study phases done in Rheumatology in relation to Rheumatoid Arthritis and for Nephrology for Renal failure in 2009 and in 2010, for breast cancer and oral cancer studies in 2014 and in 2014 respectively. Further, Mr. John has obtained foreign training in the countries such as Germany, India, Pakistan, Singapore and in Australia. He represented Sri Lanka at IFCC (International federation of Clinical Chemistry) world lab in Istanbul (Turkey) in 2014 and at the Advantage Healthcare India which has been organized by Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India in 2017 and in numerous other foreign summits during the past years.
Mr. John is member of American Association of Clinical Chemistry, American Association of Advancement of Science and is a member of Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute of United States of America. With his 36 years of professional experience, he is one of the strongest pillars who pioneered Asiri Laboratory Services from its inception to its current position as the leading diagnostics provider in the country.

Mohamed Fayaz is a product of Zahira College, Colombo. Having almost of more than a decade experience in the corporate world in the fields of Medical Laboratory, presently working in International Organization for Migration (IOM) UN Migration Agency as a Health Coordinator, who was appointed as one of the Focal Point of establishment of new Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) clinic in Horton place, along with the establishment of the laboratory for the first time when there wasn’t a laboratory he was the pioneer of IOM Laboratory Sri Lanka, the whole clinic establishment also was followed up under his direction, along with the routine clinical works, and established the IOM Sri Lanka Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) conceptual framework.
He had attended Region of Asia Pacific (ROAP) Regional HAP Summit at Vietnam in 2018. He also attended the Five Days Course on TB Laboratory Training on process & Quality Assurance at IOM Nepal Mission in 2016.
He commenced his initial professional studies, Diploma in Laboratory Technology in Chemistry (DLTC) Programme at Institute of Chemistry Ceylon 2013 and obtained his Sri Lanka Medical Council Registered (SLMC) in Medical Laboratory Technologist. He is also registered (SLMC) apprentice as a Pharmacist. Followed the Post Graduate Diploma in Health Promotion programme at University of Colombo. He holds MSc in Health Administration at Asia e University. He is the Joint Secretary of College of Chemical Sciences Alumni (Institute of Chemistry Ceylon) for the year 2018-2020.
He is the Second DAN Black belt holder in Shotokan style in Karate and possess the license for Karate Instruction and The Assistant Secretary of Shotokan Ryu Karatedo Kenshinkai Sri Lanka Branch. A Judge and a Referee for Sri Lanka Karate Tournaments.

Mr. Janith Liyanage is a dedicated and accomplished businessman with a strong background in the healthcare and real estate sectors. As a Director and Co-CEO of Ruhunu Hospital (Pvt) Ltd, He plays a pivotal role in the strategic direction and management of the hospital. He is part of the second generation of Ruhunu Hospital owners.
Mr. Janith’s commitment to excellence extends to his academic pursuits as well. He started the journey with his education at Mahanama College, where he laid the foundation for his future success. He has obtained a Bsc in Physical Science from University of Colombo, further enhancing his ability to navigate the complexities of the business world. His multifaceted background, combining healthcare, real estate and education, positions him as a dynamic and influential leader.
Dr. Chandanamali Punchihewa graduated from the University of Colombo with an Honours degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. She read for her PhD at the University of Arizona, ranked among the top 16 graduate schools in USA. Upon winning a competitive postdoctoral fellowship she joined St. Jude Research Hospital, the top pediatric cancer hospital in USA, as a postdoctoral fellow. Her research during this time involved anti-cancer drug discovery and development, and she is a co-inventor holding a US patent on a potential anticancer drug.
Upon completion of the fellowship Dr. Punchihewa continued to carry out research in molecular pathology related to brain cancers at the same hospital, and co-authored many internationally per-reviewed research articles published in high-impact journals. She was a first author in a research publication in one of the world’s highest ranked journals ‘Nature’. In addition to journal publications, Dr. Punchihewa has also co-authored a book chapter on ‘Telomeres and Telomerase in Cancer’, published by the Humana Press, USA.
She returned to Sri Lanka in 2014, and took up the position as the Head of Molecular Diagnostics laboratory at Lanka Hospitals. In 2018 she founded the genetic testing laboratory Genelabs Medical (Pvt) Ltd with the vision of making more advanced genetic tests available elsewhere in the world more accessible to Sri Lankans. In recognition of her work, she was awarded as the Women Entrepreneur of the Year 2022 by Women’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
Chandani Dissanayake is a distinguished professional currently serving as the Assistant Manager at Nawaloka Hospital Laboratory, Nawaloka Hospital PLC, Sri Lanka. With a career spanning nearly three decades, Ms. Dissanayake has continually demonstrated her commitment to excellence and advancement in the field of medical laboratory technology and health administration.
Her journey began with the pursuit of a Diploma in Laboratory Technology (DLTC) at the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon in 2002, culminating in her accreditation as a Medical Laboratory Technologist by the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC). Subsequently, she furthered her expertise by attaining SLMC registration as a pharmacist in 2005.
In 2022, she achieved a significant milestone by earning her MSc in Health Administration from Asia e University in Malaysia, a testament to her dedication and scholarly achievements. Her academic prowess was underscored by receiving the prestigious Best Student Award.
Her contributions extend beyond academia, as evidenced by her noteworthy publication titled “A Study on finding delays on turnaround time of laboratory tests at a private healthcare hospital in Colombo, Sri Lanka,” presented at the 24th Biolnquirer Forum in 2023. This reflects her commitment to advancing knowledge and addressing critical issues in the healthcare sector.
After finishing her secondary studies at St. Thomas Girls School Mathara, she has navigated various roles throughout her illustrious career, ascending from Trainee Medical Laboratory Technician in 1996 to assuming leadership as Incharge of the immunology department. Her journey includes promotions through junior, senior, and supra-senior Medical Laboratory Technician positions, showcasing her expertise and leadership capabilities.
Ms. Dissanayake is not only a seasoned professional but also a dedicated learner. She actively participated in numerous training sessions facilitated by the Sri Lanka Accreditation Board (SLAB), focusing on Internal Auditing, Medical Laboratory Management System (ISO 15189:2007), Quality Control, Calibration, and Measurement uncertainty in Medical Laboratories (ISO 15189:2007), as well as an Awareness programme on medical laboratory Accreditation based on ISO 15189:2012. Ms. Dissanayake's leadership played a pivotal role in Nawaloka Laboratories achieving accreditation from the Sri Lanka Accreditation Board (SLAB) for ISO 15189:2022, marking it as the first Sri Lankan laboratory to receive this prestigious recognition.
Furthermore, her commitment to staying abreast of advancements in healthcare is evident in her completion of specialized training programs, including Sputum Microscopy for tuberculosis (2005), Malaria Microscopy for Medical Laboratory Technicians (2012), and Industrial Waste Management and Laboratory Safety (2018). Her international exposure includes a comprehensive training program at Metropolis Laboratory in India in 2007, covering all technical departments, logistics, and customer support related to the healthcare field.

M. Feroz Lantra, 51, fondly known across the field as ‘Tony Lantra’ has embarked on a new journey with the hopes of revolutionizing the Medical Laboratory field.
Following the completion of his Advanced Level Examination in 1988 at Zahira College Colombo, he joined Asiri Hospital as a Trainee MLT. Pursuing higher knowledge in the subject matter, he completed LTCC at I.Chem in 1989 and graduated from London Business School with a Diploma in Management. Furthermore, he completed DIMM (UK) from Wigan & Leigh University, United Kingdom. Thereon, he got himself registered at the Sri Lanka Medical Council and to date is still a member. He is also an Alumni at the Institute of Chemistry, and received an award for his outstanding service in the field of Clinical Chemistry in 2019.
In his 31 years of experience, Lantra has been a part of Asiri, Delmon, Apollo (Lanka Hospital), The Central, and Browns Hospitals respectively – taking care of the laboratory departments in each of the above mentioned Medical institutions.

Mr. Pradeep Edward, the CEO of Lanka Hospitals Diagnostics (Private) Limited (LHD) is a business leader with more than 22 years of cross-industry work experience in both local and multinational companies. During his exceptional tenure which has spanned over two decades he has served 17 years in a managerial capacity and within that tenure, 10 years at Board level, serving in General Management and in the capacity of a Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer.
His expansive knowledge and experience in the Pharmaceuticals and Medical sector along with his unparalleled management level skills has made him the ideal leader to spearhead LHD. He is also one of the past Presidents of the Pharma Promoters Association of Sri Lanka and he was also appointed as the Secretary of the Sri Lanka Chamber of the Pharmaceutical Industry in association with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Edward’s educational qualifications are as impressive as his career. He is a Certified Professional Marketer in the Asia Pacific Region and a Practicing Marketer in Sri Lanka. Whilst being a Chartered Marketer (CIM-UK) and a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM-UK), he is also a Life Member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM).
Aiming to expand his cross-departmental exposure in the professional sphere he has also went on to become a Certified Professional Finance Manager qualification from the Institute of Professional Finance Managers (IPFM-UK) and also a Fellow Member of the Institute of Management Specialists (IMS-UK).
He also holds an MBA from the University of Buckinghamshire in the UK along with a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing / Business Management with a Diploma in Finance. The reigning President and Council Member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing, Pradeep records an eminent journey with SLIM in the past having served the Institute as Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Forum Member and also as Past President of the MBA Alumni.
An active member of the Presidential Secretariat, Pradeep is a Member of the National Branding Committee that spearheads the development of a strategic global campaign for Sri Lankan Exports, appointed by the Ministry of National Policies and Economic Affairs in coordination with the Export Development Board.
He was also a Director of the Sri Lankan CPM society and was an EXCO member of the OPA. Mr. Hamindra Sumanasekara is currently serving as the General Manager of Ceymed Healthcare Services (Pvt) Ltd. which has an island-wide network of Laboratories with its main center in Nugegoda. He is having almost three decades of cross-industry work experience in the corporate world in the fields of business development and operations. His has an extensive knowledge and experience in the Maritime education, Reefer container Management, Shipping & Logistic, Laboratory Management and Medical Diagnostic sectors. He has been in senior management for over 15 years.
He is a dynamic business and operational head in the Medical Diagnostic industry and during his tenure which has spanned over a decade he was able to bring Ceymed from a local small size laboratory to well popular island-wide medical laboratory.

Mr. Mahanil Perera is a product of St. Joseph’s College, Colombo 10. Having almost three decades of experience in the corporate world in the fields of business development, marketing, and operations. He has been in Senior management for over 20 years. He presently holds the post of Head of Laboratories at Durdans Hospital which covers an island-wide network of Medical Centres and Laboratories.
He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing from the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) and has obtain a Masters in Business Administration from Cardiff Metropolitan University (UK). He is also a life member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing. He represents Association of Private Hospitals Nursing Homes (APHNH) at the Private Health Services Regulatory Council (PHSRC) and a committee member of the Private Hospitals Association (PHA),member of the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) and a founder member of the Private Medical Laboratory Association (PMLA).
