The major issue doctors’ face is the difficulty to diagnose illness using symptoms, Medical laboratory service is the service that is created to overcome this issue and this service has been spread across the world. Apparently all the hospitals currently include a Medical laboratory in their premises.

With the enhancement of the technology, currently Sri Lanka laboratory service is fully equipped with the latest machineries. But this service sector faces many difficulties. Private Medical Laboratories Society was ideally started to overcome the difficulties faced in this field.

This idea initially came out In 2015 Private Medical Laboratories Society Limited was officially started by Our President Mr. N.P John and Vice President Mr. Tony Lantra along with Secretary Mr. Mohamed Fayaz along to get recognition for the Private Medical Laboratory Technologists and address common problems faced by Private Medical Laboratory Technologists. All Main Laboratory Management given their fullest support to start the Society as well as Private Medical Laboratory Technologist all around the country and the Association was initiated in 2018 with the fullest support of the Health Ministry. Even though this Association is a private group, they provide their fullest support to the Government by targeting the following objectives;

A. To ensure that ethical guidelines prevalent in the industry are upheld and followed to the highest of standards.
B. To secure, provide and manage funds and endowments for the advancement of the Profession.
C. To update the technical expertise and knowledge of the profession among the members which would include a number of activities such as the organizing of meetings, seminars, research colloquia and conferences.
D. To advocate, influence policy and advice the state on matters pertaining to Medical Laboratory Technology and Medical Laboratory Science.
E. To encourage Medical laboratory Technicians and Laboratories to maintain Professional standards and encourage industries and companies operating in the field of Medical Laboratory Services to maintain ethical behavior.
F. To seek for appropriate remedies for the grievances of the members and shortcoming of the Profession that may arise time to time.
G. To represent the member’s interest in the National and International arena.
H. To ensure quality service being rendered to the general public.
I. To guide members in their career opportunities.
